Finally a red letter day, construction has started!  Oh but, there is still destruction going on at the same time.  We have to remove the walls we are saving and rebuild them because they weren't framed properly in the first place and would not meet code, so hmmm, when they say "they don't build them like they used to" it's probably a good thing.

• Met with the contractor this morning to discuss a few issues that have popped up. Fireplace.  Doesn't look like I am going to be able to have the linear fireplace I wanted because of the existing flues. Back to the drawing boards.  But won't really know what I can do until they take out all of the old brick.

• Floors.  Leveling the flooring is still an issue. Need to get a concrete sub out to find out how much it costs to pour a light weight concrete product through out the unit to level the floors.  I am using wide plank flooring and base detail that will look terrible if everything is not perfect.
