 Week 1 Tuesday

April 8th 2014

I was told that the demo crew would use a tube down to the truck to get everything out.  But, they start reconsidering this as we are on the fourth floor, on a steep hill, with the cable car and multitudes of tourists walking by.  They want to use the elevator but the general  contractor does not think it is a good idea.  The Otis man told me it was one of the oldest elevators in the city.  Anyway, it is decided that they will carry all of the debris down 4 flights of stairs in large buckets.  By the time I come over in the evening the debris is gone.

I finally get a chance to look around and already I see a few problems and a few mysteries.  A number of doorways and entrances that have been changed show up in the old framing.  The ceiling is still up so can't really see the structural yet.

Stay tuned and watch the transformation.  If you want a hint of it's future look at my Pinterest posts.  http://www.pinterest.com/jdzinesf/hyde-street-penthouse/
