Week 3 Wednesday

April 23, 2014

Met with Tom, the structural engineer, and Daniel, my contractor, last night.  She's a grand old lady built on bedrock and definitely not going anywhere in the big one according to my engineer.  Of course she has already been through two big ones and none the worse for the wear, well maybe a little.  There is some structural work to be done but at least the bearing walls are all where I wanted them to be.  Like all of us, there are a few sags, thanks to gravity and time.  The ceiling joists are substantial (2 x 10s) considering they are not caring any load except the roof.  But the roof rafters are only 2 x 4s 32" oc.  Probably not the best place to hold a roof party.  So a little work involved but it could have been worse.
